2022 World Cup (Nicosia): Cassandro and Delaunay are silver

The 2022 races start in the best way for the shooters who choose the Gemini chokers. In Nicosia (Cyprus), during the first stage of the Shooting World Cup, the first satisfactions arrived.

In the men's skeet Tammaro Cassandro and Eric Delaunay won the silver and bronze medals respectively. Quite a tough race, in which in addition to the preparation of the previous months it was necessary to put in place concentration and tenacity to fight the wind and the cold.
The Italian, after brilliantly passing the qualifiers and the semifinal, entered the final with the Egyptian Azmy Mehelba. What both athletes experienced was a long challenge to the last breath. In fact, we had to wait until the last series to see the winner proclaimed. Cassandro, 33 to 32 ahead, unfortunately did not win the gold medal due to two wrong plates; the medal match ended 36 to 35 for the Egyptian.
Behind the athlete from Campania he climbed to the third step of the podium Eric Delaunay, bronze with 23 out of 30, able to beat the Finnish opponent Eetu Kallioinen.

From Tammaro's words a bit of regret emerges for the first faded place. "Double zero bothers a lot but will serve as a warning not to repeat this error in the future. Starting the season with a second place is still a good start!", stated the athlete from Capua.
For the occasion, a special dedication went to his friend Cristian Ghilli, who died prematurely in January 2022.

It changes the Olympic format but not the performance of the shooters who rely on our chokers. To Tammaro and Eric our congratulations: happy to have you in our great Family!
