The last stage of the 2022 Skeet World Cup sees our shooters once again on the top step of the podium! In fact, the platforms of the International Shooting Range in Changwon (Korea), saw the arrival of two gold medals in the skeet, thanks to the performances of Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Lucie Anastassiou, but also thanks to the support of Gemini chokes.
Starting with the men's competition, India’s Mairaj Ahmad Khan treated the public, including his many fans, to a Performance with a capital P. The athlete, born in 1975, finished the qualification round with 119 out of 125 then prevailed over Korean Minsu Kim in the medal match, crumbling 37 of the 40 clay targets.
Once again, his name will remain engraved in the history of India: thanks to this victory he is the first athlete to have won the individual gold in the World Cup for his nation.
Moving on to the women's competition, French Lucie Anastassiou won an excellent gold. Our shooter, after finishing with 34 out of 40 in the final, then beat Britain's Amber Hill in the medal match with a final score of 11 to 10. Another success for Lucie, after her win a month ago in Baku, which confirms the enormous abilities of this young athlete, also by virtue of the adverse weather conditions she had to face, and which saw her bring her very best skills into play.
Congratulations to Mairaj, Lucie and all the shooters on their performances, we are happy to have you all in our great Family!
Now it is on to the team events, to then close the World Cup stage with the mixed team finals.
