Asian Clay Target Shooting Championship: Bajwa and Khan reac

The 14th Asian Clay target Shooting Championship ends in the best way for Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Mairaj Ahmad Khan, the indian shooters adopting our chokes. On he field in Doha (Qatar) the two fellow-countrymen conquered respectively the first and the second place, moreover automatically gaining access to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

A memorable achievement for India which, for the very first time, gets doubly crowned Asian Skeet Champion.
Both of them qualified with a score of 120 out of 125, as the two athletes got into the final shoot-off after a 56 out of 60. “Although we were excited and aware of having turned the Olympic dream into reality - said Mairaj speaking for both – we made our mind up to do our best so as to slog it out for the gold medal”. The 44-year-old, who had already told us during an interview that he had put his signs on such goal, gave in by the score of 5 to 6 missing the top step of the podium to the advantage of the young Angad, a 23-year-old skeet world record holder.
The bronze medal and the third quota placement for grabs were achieved by Saud Mukhamediyev Habib, a Kuwait shooter ranking third with 45 out of 50.

The spotlights have been turned off by now, yet India boasts a remarrkable outstanding as a result of this competition: the olympic quota placement attained amount to six, besides the nine ones reached on previous occasions. A total number beyond the twelve ones obtained when qualifying to Rio 2016.
The best outcome for a Country which is committing its utmost effort to this sport and that, thanks to the achievements of Angad and Mairaj, shows-off the experience acquired as well as the potential of its young pipeliners.
